Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bello Mohammed Magaji is an Associate Professor of Law, a Senior Lawyer of 33 years standing, with a Law doctorate, and a Post-Doctoral Fellow with multi-diverse degrees in Criminology, Education, and Public Administration. He has been teaching law for over 25 years in Nigeria and some African countries.
He obtained his LL.B (Hons) From Usmanu Dan Fodio University, Sokoto in 1989, called to the Bar as a Barrister-at-Law (BL) from the Nigeria Law School Lagos in 1990. He obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M) and Doctoral Law Degree (PhD) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2008 and 2017 respectively and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Institute of Advance Studies in collaboration with Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in 2020.
He began his academic career in Federal Polytechnic Kaduna where he taught law for 15 years and rose from Lecturer III to Senior Law Lecturer. He proceeded to the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano as a pioneer Law Lecturer and Faculty of Law Examination Officer. In 2016 he left the shores of Nigeria to Uganda in East Africa to continue his academic career firstly at Kampala International University as Senior Law Lecturer and Associate Dean Research. He was a visiting Law Lecturer at Nkumba University Entebbe, Uganda. He later joined the academic staff of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) where he rose to the position of the Dean, Faculty of Law, the position he held till he returned to Nigeria and joined American University of Nigeria. While in Kaduna Polytechnic he conducted 3 research which were funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND). Again in Uganda, he won a research grant from the Islamic Development Bank under the auspices of the Research and Coordination Committee of the Islamic University in Uganda. He authored and published 10 standard law books. Some of his titles include Electoral Law and Elections in Nigeria (Lambert 2017), Selected Themes on Nigerian Labor Law (2010), Hotel and Catering Law in Nigeria: An Introduction (2005), Banking Laws Regulation and Negotiable Instruments in Uganda: A Tutorial Approach (2020) Selected Themes on Industrial and Labor Laws (co-author 2014) Principles of Nigerian Law (2001), Banking Laws, and Regulations in Nigeria Selected Themes (2024). He has to date attended over 35 Academic Conferences in Nigeria and outside the country where he presented papers. The latest conference presentation was an International Conference on Research and Development in Kampala International University, Uganda, KIU Titled: Legal Frameworks for Encouraging Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities in October, 2023. He supervised both Undergraduates (25) and Postgraduate students (15) from different countries in Africa. He is a Law Examiner and Facilitator to the School of Law of the National Open University, (NOUN) Kaduna Study Center since 2013. He is an External Examiner for Phd Law Students for the School of Law SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, India. His latest PhD Law thesis examination was Titled: Compassionate Appointments in India: With Special Reference to Public Sectors in State of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry at SRM Institute of Science and Technology by Ms. S. CHEMMALAR PA1733019013002.
He is also a visiting Scholar and Research Fellow at INTI, International University, Malaysia. He is a Fellow of Institute of Advanced Studies Ile-Ife, Osun-Nigeria; Fellow of Eudoxia Research Center (FMERC), India; Fellow of Eudoxia Research University (FMERU) USA, Fellow of Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) Abuja-Nigeria, Fellow and Council Member of the African Institute for Leadership and Good Governance (AILGG) Abuja-Nigeria. He is the Editor In-Chief for the Journal of Human Rights Law and Practice, Section Editor for the Journal of Banking and Insurance Law and Journal of Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence all under the Law Journals Division of the Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) Journals. He is an editorial member of the International Institute for Policy Review & Development Strategies (www.internationalpolicybrief.org) He is licensed and certificated as a qualified teacher by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). He is a member of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), International Bar Association (IBA), National Association of Law Teachers (NALT). Enhancement of legal training: He was appointed a competition Judge by the International Bar Association IBA in 2018 for the International Moot Court Competition for university Students in the Commonwealth countries held at The Hague, Netherlands in 2018. Towards enhancing students learning of law he has created a YouTube link where his AUN Students and other interested persons can access his recorded law lecture series on Public International Law, Contract Law, Banking and Insurance Law.

He is a Trustee of the Northern Youth Empowerment and Enlightenment Forum (CAC/II/NO/127306) where he organizes and participates in public lecture towards improving the quality of our youths in Nigeria as part of community services. The latest Public Lecture was on 3rd June, 2023 at Kaduna, Nigeria Titled: “The Role of NGOs in Combating Drugs Abuse Amongst Youths in Northern Nigeria”. He is a recipient of several awards including: Meritorious Service Award, (2021) (Kaduna Polytechnic), Best Law Lecturer Award, (2018) (Kampala International University, Uganda) Best Law Lecturer Award, (American University of Nigeria, (2023) Yola-Nigeria) Excellence Award (2023) (Nigeria Bar Association, Kaduna Branch) Best Law Lecturer Award, (American University of Nigeria, (2024), He is a member of several committees in the AUN School of Law (SOL) some of which are Admission and Transfer Committee, Students Research Project/Long Essay Committee, Quality Assurance and Compliance Committee etc. He is currently the Chair of Public and International Law Department in the School of Law, American University of Nigeria.
